Want to learn the art of Beekeeping?

The South Jersey Beekeepers Association is dedicated to promoting, preserving, and teaching the craft of beekeeping. Our classes are designed to provide the latest information about beekeeping and to make beekeeping accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

We strive to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date instruction on beekeeping and to support our members in their beekeeping endeavors. Beekeeping is both fascinating and complex, and our classes can help set you up for success.

Intro to Beekeeping

Winter/Spring 2026 Course

  • Classes will be held Saturday March 7th, March 21st, and April 4th. 

  • They will be at 8:30am - 12:30pm.

  • Location: Camden County Sustainability Center, 508 Lakeland Rd, Blackwood, NJ or via Zoom.

  • Field Days will be in the afternoon after the class at a local beekeepers apiary.

  • This fall series fulfills the regulatory requirements of the State of New Jersey for beekeeper education. 

  • The course will cover: Honey bee biology and life cycle, Selecting hive components, Setting up an apiary, Purchasing honey bees, Honey bee diseases and pests, Honey harvesting, and much more.  

  • Tuition is $125 per person and includes the text, The Beekeeper’s Handbook 5th edition, by Diana Sammataro and Alphonse Avitabile.
